Astrologer's Forecast Amid Dry Conditions

Mandi:
As Himachal Pradesh faces an extended dry spell at the beginning of the year, well-known astrologer Gopal Kapoor from Mandi has shared his insights on when rain and snowfall might return to the region.
Kapoor, who gained attention for his predictions during the 2025 rain disaster, asserts that “true winter will only be experienced after January 10.”
In his unique blend of folklore and spiritual symbolism, the astrologer mentioned that he received this information in a dream. “You will understand what real cold and snowfall are only after January 10. Shankhchud, the demon, revealed this to me in a dream. I am stating this today, on January 5, 2025,” he shared on Facebook, a post that quickly gained traction on social media.
However, some users mocked the post, pointing out that Kapoor mistakenly referred to 2025 instead of 2026, suggesting that the prediction seemed to pertain to the previous year.
Credibility Under Examination
Kapoor previously rose to fame after accurately predicting a building collapse in Kullu’s Akhara Bazaar during the 2025 rain disaster, which bolstered his credibility among followers.
Nonetheless, his recent forecast of widespread rain and snowfall around the New Year did not come to fruition, as much of Himachal remained dry despite the cold. This discrepancy has led to scrutiny of his latest prediction, as farmers and residents remain hopeful for any signs of rain amidst drought-like conditions.
Continued Dry Weather and Cold Wave
Following light rain and snowfall at the start of the year, the weather in Himachal has turned predominantly dry. The lack of precipitation has raised concerns regarding agriculture and water supply, while a severe cold wave continues to affect the state. Several locations have recorded temperatures dropping below freezing.
The Meteorological Centre in Shimla has indicated a slight change in weather due to a weak western disturbance. Light snowfall is anticipated in isolated high-altitude areas of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur on January 5, with similar conditions expected for the higher regions of Chamba, Kullu, and Kinnaur on January 6. However, mid-hill and lower regions are likely to remain dry.
A yellow alert for dense fog has been issued until January 8 for the districts of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Mandi, Solan, and Sirmaur, urging motorists to exercise caution and utilize fog lights.
