Astrologer Arrested in Maharashtra for Sexual Assault and Fraud
Astrologer and Tantrik Captured by Nashik Police
In Maharashtra, Ashok Kharat, also known as Captain, a self-proclaimed astrologer and tantrik, has been apprehended by Nashik police on charges of sexually assaulting multiple women and orchestrating a significant fraud scheme. Investigators revealed that Kharat presented himself as a powerful spiritual healer, deceiving individuals through fake rituals to extract large sums of money from them.
Deceptive Practices Uncovered
During the investigation, authorities discovered that Kharat used remote-controlled fake snakes to create artificial movements, convincing people that supernatural forces were at play. The police learned that he referred to these staged acts as 'miracles,' persuading his followers that he possessed divine powers. To instill fear and influence, he also showcased items related to tigers and protected wildlife.
Selling Tamarind Seeds for Exorbitant Prices
The investigation revealed that Kharat polished cheap wild tamarind seeds and marketed them as 'energized' spiritual items. Exploiting the financial situations of his victims, he sold items worth 100 rupees for prices ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 rupees. He also sold fake stones and gems, claiming they were miraculous and contained spiritual energy.
High-Profile Connections Under Scrutiny
Several prominent figures, including Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, and NCP leader Rupali Chakanakar, have been linked to Kharat's cases. Following these revelations, Chakanakar resigned from her position. State officials indicated that a high-level investigation is underway under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to oversee the inquiry. The Nashik police commissioner is leading the investigation, and efforts are ongoing to encourage more victims to come forward with allegations against Kharat.
