On Friday, the Chief Minister shared on 'X' that the police team seized 1.357 kilograms of morphine based on confidential information. Sarma noted that traffickers attempted to smuggle this morphine, worth ₹8.2 crores, but were apprehended by Cachar police. Morphine, a natural narcotic derived from opium, is utilized in pain management. The Chief Minister emphasized, 'There will be no drug trade here; they will be seized. Three individuals have been arrested, the drugs confiscated, and the operation permanently shut down.' An official confirmed that legal proceedings related to the seizures and arrests have commenced.
