Guwahati, May 14: On Thursday, four ministers from Assam's BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government received their portfolio assignments.
As per an official announcement from Raj Bhavan, the ministers—Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora, Charan Boro, and Ajanta Neog—were allocated their roles following recommendations from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Rameswar Teli has been designated to oversee the departments of Transformation and Development, Labour Welfare, and Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare.
Atul Bora, who previously held the Agriculture Minister position in the last NDA government, will now manage the Panchayat and Rural Development, Implementation of Assam Accord, Border Protection and Development, and Excise departments.

Charan Boro has been assigned the Transport and Welfare of Bodoland departments, while Ajanta Neog will oversee Women and Child Development and Tourism.
This cabinet reshuffle brings together seasoned political leaders who represent Assam's diverse regional, tribal, and tea garden communities, marking a crucial moment for the ruling NDA alliance in the state.
Overview of the Ministers:
Ajanta Neog: A six-time MLA from Golaghat, Neog is recognized as Assam’s longest-serving female legislator, having represented her constituency since 2001. She made history as the state’s first woman Finance Minister in 2021. Previously affiliated with Congress, she joined the BJP in 2020 and successfully retained her seat in a bypoll. Tragically, her husband, former Congress minister Nagen Neog, was killed in a militant attack in 1996.
Rameswar Teli: A notable leader from the tea tribe community, Teli is entering the state cabinet for the first time after serving as Union Minister of State in the Modi administration. He began his political journey as a student and first won a seat in the Assam Assembly from Duliajan in 2001. After a brief hiatus from state politics, he returned to the Assembly this year.
Atul Bora: The president of the Asom Gana Parishad, Bora has led the regional party since 2014. He has been a significant figure in Assam's political landscape, first entering the Assembly in 1996 and retaining his seat for three consecutive terms. He has previously managed key portfolios, including Agriculture and Assam Accord Implementation.
Charan Boro: A third-term MLA from Mazbat in the Bodoland Territorial Region, Boro is the only minister from lower Assam in the new cabinet. He joined the NDA cabinet during its last expansion and previously managed the Transport Department.
