Guwahati: On Wednesday, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that restaurants in Guwahati will be permitted to stay open until 3:30 a.m. on select days, allowing football fans to enjoy the FIFA World Cup semi-finals and final without any hassle.
In a message shared on X, the Chief Minister mentioned that the local District Administration has been given the green light to extend the operating hours of restaurants on July 15, 16, 19, and 20.
CM Sarma emphasized, "Football brings people together, and we want our sports enthusiasts to experience the FIFA World Cup matches without any inconvenience."
He also indicated that similar extensions could be authorized in other regions of Assam based on local interest.
The Chief Minister stated, "I have empowered District Administrations in other areas to allow similar extensions if requested by Restaurant Owners' Associations and local public demand."
