Amingaon to Become Integrated Sports Hub

The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has announced the development of the Amingaon Complex in Guwahati, which will serve as a cutting-edge integrated sports hub. This ambitious project will include an indoor stadium, a cricket stadium, a swimming pool, a players' hostel, and various other modern amenities. Sarma emphasized that this initiative aims to nurture grassroots sporting talent and position Assam as a host for significant national and international sporting events.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister stated, "This is the Amingaon Complex in Guwahati, which we are developing as an integrated sports complex—indoor stadium, cricket stadium, swimming pool, players' hostel, and much more."

He highlighted that the project is part of the state's broader strategy to enhance sports infrastructure and create opportunities for athletes from the grassroots level.

Sarma added, "Not only will this ground-up approach develop local talent, but it will also enable us to host premier events."

The integrated sports complex is anticipated to offer world-class training and competition facilities, thereby boosting Assam's ability to host major sporting events in the future.

Assam to Intensify Fight Against Drugs

On a different note, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Sunday that the Assam government plans to intensify its anti-drug efforts over the next five years.

"The Assam government will implement even stricter measures against drug trafficking in the coming years," he stated, urging the public to fully support this campaign.

He pointed out that Assam has become a transit point for heroin, methamphetamine, and Yaba tablets smuggled from Myanmar to various states across India.

"This trend is a serious concern. Tackling major drug traffickers is particularly challenging, as the main operators often reside outside the country while using multiple intermediaries for transportation and distribution," the Chief Minister remarked.
