Assam Premier League Unveils Player Pool Ahead of Inaugural Auction

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has revealed the player pool for the first-ever Assam Premier League (APL). A total of 275 players have been selected from those who registered their interest in joining the league. This pool includes 20 marquee players alongside more than 250 general category players, all set to be auctioned as franchises compete to build their teams for the inaugural season.
Highlighting the Marquee Players
The marquee player list features top talents from Assam's senior domestic circuit. Key batting and all-rounder options include Denish Das, Sibsankar Roy, Sumit Kashyap, Swarupam Purkayastha, and Jitumoni Kalita. The bowling lineup is led by Mrinmoy Dutta, Muktar Hussain, Avinav Choudhary, Rahul Singh, Sadak Hussain, and Bhargab Pratim Lakhar. Additional batting depth is provided by Saahil Jain, Pradyun Saikia, and Saurav Mousum Dihingia, while Abdul Ajij Kuraishi, Akash Sengupta, and Ayushman Malakar enhance the all-rounder category. Wicketkeeping options include Sumit Ghadigaonkar, Rohit Sen, and Ruhinandan Pegu. All 20 marquee players have participated in BCCI tournaments for Assam and are anticipated to attract significant bids during the auction.
Upcoming Auction and Its Significance
Scheduled for July 19, 2026, the APL Player Auction will take place at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati. This event will allow franchises to select players for their teams for the inaugural season. The league aims to provide a platform for Assam's cricketers to showcase their skills in front of selectors, directly influencing the identification and selection process for the upcoming BCCI domestic season.
