Overview of Recent Arrests

Guwahati, Jan 9: Authorities in Assam have recently apprehended 11 individuals associated with the Imam Mahamuder Kafila (IMK), a terrorist organization linked to the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). This group is reportedly focused on inciting jihad and carrying out terrorist operations in Assam and Tripura.

Details of the Investigation

Investigations into the arrests have revealed significant insights. According to police sources, in late 2024, a man named Nasim Uddin, also known as Tamim, discovered a YouTube channel that promoted the concept of Muzaddid, a religious figure believed to appear every century to protect Muslims.

The channel claimed that this saint had already manifested on earth to spread Islamic teachings. When questioned about the channel's creator, Tamim identified him as Khalid from Bangladesh.

The channel asserted that the Muzaddid had arrived under the name Imam Mahmud. Following instructions from the channel, Tamim interacted with a user ID that led him to a Telegram account belonging to Khalid, which contained various religious texts and messages in PDF format.

Formation of the Telegram Group

Further investigations indicated that Khalid, under the guidance of several individuals from Bangladesh and West Bengal, was disseminating Hadith that foretold the arrival of the Muzaddid. He subsequently established a Telegram group named Purva Akash, where he initially served as the admin.

Afterward, Khalid transferred admin rights to Tamim and added numerous members, including Md. Siddik Ali, Rasidul Alom, and others. Within this group, Tamim, following directives from Khalid and others, propagated messages related to Ghazwatul Hind.

Radical Ideologies and Fake Literature

During the investigation, it was uncovered that the texts referenced by Khalid were fabricated. The IMK is reportedly promoting the extremist ideology of Ghazwatul Hind, which advocates for the establishment of Muslim dominance in India through violent means against Hindus.
