Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth Crores, Arrest Multiple Suspects
Major Drug Bust in Cachar District
The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced the arrest of a woman following the seizure of yaba tablets valued at three crore rupees in Cachar district. These tablets, often referred to as 'crazy drugs', contain a mix of methamphetamine and caffeine, both of which are banned in India.
In a post on social media platform X on Tuesday night, Sarma stated, 'Based on confidential information, Cachar police apprehended a woman and confiscated 20,000 yaba tablets worth approximately three crore rupees.' He emphasized the state's commitment to dismantling drug networks to protect the youth from the path of destruction.
Additional Drug Seizures and Arrests
In a separate incident, Chief Minister Sarma reported that five suspected drug traffickers were arrested in Cachar district, along with the recovery of narcotics valued at two crore rupees. He noted that the seized drugs were found in two different vehicles within the district.
Sarma shared on social media that the Cachar police intercepted two vehicles on the Sonabarighat bypass, leading to the confiscation of 406 grams of heroin worth two crore rupees. He praised the Assam police for their swift action, stating, 'Drugs do not travel far in Assam; they end here!'
