Major Arrest in Cyber Crime Operation

The Assam police have apprehended a primary suspect linked to an interstate gang that provided SIM cards to cybercriminals, including individuals from Pakistan, for the purpose of committing fraud via WhatsApp. This information was disclosed in an official statement on Sunday.


According to the statement, the Special Task Force (STF) of the state police arrested the suspect on Saturday night in Dhubri as part of 'Operation Ghost SIM.' This operation was initiated based on military intelligence from the Gajraj Corps.


The operation yielded significant evidence, including a laptop, two mobile phones, three micro ATM machines, a biometric device, six ATM cards, 11 voter ID cards, one Aadhaar card, and one PAN card. To date, a total of 11 suspects have been arrested under 'Operation Ghost SIM.'
