Assam Police and Fire Services Honored with Gallantry Awards

On the eve of Independence Day, Assam Police and Fire Services personnel were honored for their bravery and dedication. A total of 17 medals were awarded, including the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service to Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta. The awards celebrate the commitment of officers and personnel who have shown exceptional service in their duties. This recognition highlights the courage and professionalism of those serving in law enforcement and emergency services across Assam.

Assam Police and Fire Services Honored with Gallantry Awards

Recognition of Bravery and Service


Guwahati, August 14: In celebration of Independence Day, personnel from Assam Police, Fire Services, and Civil Defence were recognized for their exceptional bravery, commitment, and years of dedicated service through prestigious awards including Gallantry Awards, President’s Medals, and Medals for Meritorious Service.


This year, a total of 17 medals were presented to officers of the Assam Police. Among them, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, the Commissioner of Police in Guwahati, was awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, acknowledging his outstanding leadership and significant contributions to law enforcement in Assam.


Three officers received the Police Medal for Gallantry, while thirteen were honored with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, recognizing their steadfast dedication to their duties. Furthermore, three members of the fire service and one volunteer post warden were also awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.


These annual awards highlight the courage, professionalism, and commitment of police and related personnel throughout India.
