Early Announcement of HSLC Results in Assam

Guwahati, March 18: Students in Assam are likely to receive their HSLC examination results ahead of two significant events: the upcoming Assembly elections and the Rongali Bihu festivities. The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) is working diligently to finish the evaluation process earlier than usual.

Although an official date for the results has not been disclosed, officials have indicated that they will be released much sooner than last year, when results were announced on April 11, 2025.

Nayan Jyoti Sarma, the Controller of Examinations at ASSEB, stated that despite a record number of candidates this year, the evaluation is nearing completion. “This year, over 4.38 lakh students took the HSLC examination, marking the highest participation in the Board's history. The evaluation process is about 95 percent complete,” Sarma noted. “We are optimistic that results will be available much earlier than last year, allowing students ample time to apply for higher education across the country.”

Currently, 45 evaluation centers throughout the state are operating on an expedited schedule to finalize the remaining evaluations and prepare for result processing.

Board sources have suggested that the goal is to announce results by the end of March, although it may extend into the first week of April at the latest.

The HSLC examinations took place from February 10 to February 27 at 1,046 centers across Assam.

However, officials have cautioned that several technical steps must be completed before the results can be officially released. One of the more challenging tasks is verifying the attendance of candidates.

“There are various tasks to complete between evaluation and result announcement. Verifying absentee candidates is particularly complex. Some students were absent for one or two subjects, while others missed the entire exam. Compiling this data and finalizing the results requires meticulous attention,” Sarma explained.

Last year, ASSEB also released HSLC results ahead of the CBSE schedule, and officials are again aiming for a timely announcement this year to alleviate uncertainty for students planning their future academic endeavors.
