Celebrating Holi with the Armed Forces


Silchar, March 4: In a show of support for the armed forces, Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya joined the troops and families of the 38 Assam Rifles in Srikona, Cachar district, to celebrate Holi. He characterized the festival as a representation of national pride, gratitude, and unity.


During his address to the officers and soldiers, the Governor highlighted that celebrating festivals with security personnel fosters emotional connections and enhances national morale.


“It brings immense joy to celebrate Holi with our courageous soldiers and their families. While people across the nation enjoy festivities in peace, our soldiers remain vigilant at the borders to ensure our safety,” he stated.


The celebration included lively cultural performances, notably a beautiful display by the Assam Rifles pipe band, which added a festive atmosphere to the event.


A standout moment was the traditional Khukri dance performed by the troops, showcasing their warrior spirit, bravery, and rich heritage.


Praising the performance, the Governor remarked that it epitomized the courage and unwavering spirit of the Assam Rifles. He was seen applying colors to the foreheads of officers, including the IG Assam Rifles (East), and soldiers while exchanging Holi greetings.


In a nod to environmental stewardship, a tree plantation initiative was part of the festivities. The Governor commended this eco-friendly effort, emphasizing that festivals should also be opportunities to reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and conservation.


Extending his warm wishes, Acharya conveyed heartfelt greetings to the people of Assam, as well as to the officers, soldiers, and their families.


“On this auspicious occasion of Holi, I wish all citizens of the state well, especially our brave soldiers who protect our nation with unwavering dedication. The country takes pride in you,” he expressed.


The celebration at Srikona concluded with a spirit of camaraderie and patriotism, creating lasting memories for the troops and their families.
