Swift Legal Measures Announced by Assam Chief Minister
Guwahati, Jan 1: On Thursday, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed a series of proactive legal measures aimed at expediting justice in the widely publicized case involving renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.
The Chief Minister stated that starting January 12, the Assam government will appoint a dedicated public prosecutor specifically for this case to hasten the judicial process.
He mentioned that discussions are already underway with experienced criminal lawyers to take on this important role, highlighting the government's commitment to addressing the issue seriously.
Additionally, Sarma announced plans to petition the High Court for the establishment of a special court to expedite the trial proceedings. He emphasized, “Our goal is to ensure justice is served promptly and transparently.”
Recognizing the emotional weight of the case, the Chief Minister assured that the government is aware of the public sentiments involved and is dedicated to a timely legal resolution.
He reiterated that these actions are intended to restore public trust in the justice system while ensuring fairness for all parties concerned.
