Major Administrative Changes in Assam


Guwahati, Dec 25: With the Assembly elections approaching, the Assam government has executed a significant reshuffle by transferring 14 IAS and state service officers.


As per the announcement from the Personnel Department, Sumit Sattawan, who was serving as the District Commissioner (DC) of Kamrup Metropolitan, has been reassigned to the DC position in Tinsukia. His role will be taken over by Swapneel Paul, previously the DC of Tinsukia.


Aranyak Saikia, who worked as a staff officer to the Chief Secretary, has been designated as the new DC of Karbi Anglong. The current DC, Nirala Phangshopi, will now serve as Additional Secretary in the Hill Areas Department.


In a series of other transfers, Aayush Garg, the DC of Sivasagar, and Mridul Yadav, the DC of Cachar, have exchanged their roles. Similarly, Dibakar Nath, the DC of Dhubri, and Nabadeep Pathak, the DC of Bongaigaon, have also swapped positions.


Masanda Magdalin Pertin, who was the DC of Kokrajhar and the Director of Training at the Bodoland Administrative Staff College, has been moved to the Finance Department as Joint Secretary. Pankaj Chakravarty, the DC of Tamulpur, will now take charge as the new DC of Kokrajhar.


Simi Karan, currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Environment & Forest and Housing & Urban Affairs Departments, has been appointed as the DC of Tamulpur.


Pubali Gohain, the Inspector General of Prisons and Secretary in the Home & Political Department, will now serve as the DC of Darrang, while the outgoing DC, Parag Kumar Kakaty, will transition to the DC role in Golaghat.


Additionally, Pulak Mahanta, the DC of Golaghat, has been reassigned as the Inspector General of Prisons.
