Assam Government Pushes for Swift Project Implementation with Central Agencies
Guwahati's Strategic Meeting on Project Progress
Guwahati, August 9: On Saturday, the Assam administration called upon Central agencies and relevant stakeholders to expedite the resolution of outstanding issues to enhance the implementation of various state projects.
These projects encompass a range of topics, including highway crossings, land designated for defense use, and airport-related concerns, all of which were evaluated by Chief Secretary Ravi Kota.
In a social media update, the Chief Secretary mentioned, "I chaired the 10th Monthly Review Meeting with Central Agencies and other key stakeholders in a hybrid format to evaluate the progress of Government of India projects across various districts of the state."
Kota emphasized that the involved departments and agencies were instructed to ensure diligent follow-up and timely resolution of pending matters to facilitate ground-level implementation.
Highlighting key outcomes from the meeting, Kota stated that the Guwahati Ring Road Project has been prioritized, with district commissioners from Kamrup Metropolitan, Kamrup, and Darrang assigned to appoint three Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA) officers specifically for this project.
These CALA officers will collaborate closely with circle officers to address ground-level issues promptly.
District commissioners from Lakhimpur, Tinsukia, Sonitpur, Jorhat, and Dibrugarh were directed to work with Northeast Frontier Railway officials to ensure the effective execution of ten approved level crossings, which are set to be converted into railway overbridges or underpasses.
The Tinsukia district commissioner has been assigned to oversee the progress of the Amrit Bharat station platform and to take strict measures against any unauthorized encroachments on railway property, as noted by Kota in his social media post.
All district commissioners were instructed to form the Gram Panchayat Digital Access Committee (GPDAC) under the Samridh Gram Panchayat Pilot Project of Digital Bharat Nidhi.
This initiative aims to provide FTTH connectivity through BSNL to five private institutions in each selected rural area to foster socio-economic growth.
A total of 95 gram panchayats across 23 districts in Assam have been chosen for this initiative. The district commissioners are responsible for ensuring the timely establishment of these committees and maintaining close coordination with the Department of Telecommunications and BSNL for effective implementation.
The Chief Secretary also directed the Darrang district commissioner to assess the land at Kharupetia, currently utilized by the Army as a Transit Camp, and submit an 'as-is-where-is' report to the Additional Chief Secretary for Revenue and Disaster Management.
Kota further mentioned that the initial meeting for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Doloo Airport in Cachar has taken place, with preliminary cost estimates completed and the land handover process to be expedited.
"All issues related to the six-lane approach road to the new Guwahati International Airport Terminal should be managed through seamless coordination among the Kamrup Metro district commissioner, PWD (Roads), GIAL, and the executing agency," he instructed.
The Principal Secretary for Transport will oversee all matters concerning the Airports Authority of India (AAI), he added.
