Gaurav Gogoi's Strong Allegations Against BJP

On Saturday, Gaurav Gogoi, the President of Assam Congress, launched a fierce critique against the BJP and the Election Commission, alleging irregularities in the management of strong rooms. He asserted that the ruling party is attempting to secure its position through dishonest means, as it cannot win elections based on its performance. Gogoi claimed that BJP workers were allowed access to the strong rooms and were present during the voting process.

In response to inquiries regarding the alleged access of BJP workers to the strong rooms, Gogoi told a news outlet that in Assam, they are witnessing similar occurrences at various polling stations: BJP members were not only inside the strong rooms but also present while voting was ongoing. He raised a critical question about the role of the Election Commission, labeling the situation as a serious threat to democracy. He emphasized that the opposition parties have repeatedly highlighted this issue, making it evident that the BJP cannot win elections based on their actions and is resorting to theft to protect themselves.

Referencing similar concerns raised by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Gogoi questioned the composition of personnel assigned to secure the strong rooms. Targeting Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, he raised queries about his alleged foreign trips, asking how often Sarma's family has traveled to Dubai and how many times he himself has visited Bangladesh. Gogoi criticized the police administration for failing to provide security to the common people, stating that instead of focusing on public safety, they are directed to take action against opposition leaders at the behest of Chief Minister Sarma.

Continuing his attack on governance issues, Gogoi pointed out that unemployment, inflation, and rising LPG prices remain significant concerns in Assam. He accused the government of neglecting the serious drug problem in the region, asserting that the police should prioritize protecting the public rather than investigating political opponents as per the Chief Minister's orders.
