Assam's Flood Situation and Government Response

Guwahati, July 28 - The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his personal attention to the flooding crisis in the state. The floods have claimed the lives of 68 individuals, with over 445,000 people still affected. Sarma stated that the state government has successfully reached all impacted villages and is working tirelessly to provide relief to those affected.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi convened a meeting with central ministers and BJP MPs from Assam at the Parliament complex to review the flood situation in the state. Following the meeting, Modi shared on the social media platform 'X', stating, 'I met with Assam's MPs and discussed the current flood situation in various parts of the state. The central government is collaborating with the Assam government to assist those affected.'

Wishing for everyone's safety and well-being, Modi's post regarding the review of the flood situation was shared by Sarma, who thanked the Prime Minister for his personal involvement and for seeking ground-level insights into Assam's flood conditions. The Chief Minister remarked, 'Under your leadership, we are working at war footing to provide relief to our people, and we have managed to reach every affected village so far.'

Sarma noted that electricity supply has been restored in most flood-affected areas, and those rescued are being accommodated in relief camps with access to adequate food and medical facilities. He emphasized, 'We will continue to work around the clock to ensure a swift response during this challenging time, and afterward, we will present a comprehensive rehabilitation plan based on the principles of public participation.'
