New Delhi, Sept. 27: On Sunday, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, conducted a review of the arrangements at Bharat Mandapam for the grand finale celebrating the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, set to take place in the national capital on November 29.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to grace the closing ceremony, which will conclude a year-long tribute to the iconic singer, composer, and cultural figure.
During his inspection at Bharat Mandapam, Sarma evaluated the event's halls and discussed the preparations with senior officials, who provided updates on various program aspects.
“We are crafting a memorable tribute that truly honors the legacy of Sudhakantha,” Sarma shared in a social media update after his visit.
An exhibition highlighting Hazarika’s life, works, and contributions will also be featured at the venue as part of the centenary festivities.
This exhibition will showcase his artistic journey and emphasize his significant impact on Indian music and culture, along with his lasting legacy.
The grand finale is anticipated to attract distinguished personalities, artists, cultural figures, and admirers of Hazarika from all over the nation.
