Call to Action for Voter Participation

On Thursday, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, encouraged all voters to exercise their right to vote in the assembly elections, aiming to elevate the state to new heights.


Voting commenced at 7 AM for all 126 assembly constituencies in Assam. A total of 722 candidates are contesting in this election.


The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is striving for a third consecutive term, while the Congress party aims to reclaim power after its defeat in 2016. Sarma expressed on social media that every voice and every vote is crucial for building a better Assam.


He stated, “On this festive occasion of democracy, I urge everyone to come out in large numbers to vote, strengthening our democracy and taking Assam to new heights.” Sarma is contesting from the Jalukbari seat in Guwahati, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 4.
