Assam Chief Minister Sets Timelines for Job Appointments and Student Benefits
Timely Government Appointments Announced
Guwahati, Dec 17: On Tuesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed specific timelines for government job appointments, ensuring that the process will be finalized before the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming elections is implemented.
During a live session addressing concerns regarding the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan (CM AAA), Sarma mentioned that approximately 75,000 students are anticipated to benefit from this initiative, which aims to empower youth through financial aid and support for livelihoods.
“We expect around 75,000 students to gain from the CM AAA scheme. The selection process is ongoing, and we will announce the start date for beneficiaries to receive their benefits by the end of January,” the Chief Minister stated.
He also indicated that the government plans to conduct district-level distribution events for the scheme's benefits.
“Each district will host a distribution event. We aim to implement this between January 15 and February 15,” Sarma added.
Regarding health sector appointments, the Chief Minister confirmed that the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) and the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) will issue appointment letters on December 22.
However, candidates selected under the 3% reservation for tea tribes will receive their letters a day later, on December 23.
In response to repeated inquiries from candidates selected through the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE), Sarma acknowledged the delays and elaborated on the complexities involved in the process.
“The ADRE selection process is extensive. Appointments need to be allocated across 38 departments and then sent to various districts for verification by district officials. Additionally, specially-abled candidates must undergo an extra medical examination,” he explained.
Despite these challenges, the Chief Minister assured candidates of clear timelines.
“Appointments for Grade IV positions under ADRE will be issued before January 10, and those for Grade III will be finalized by January 15. We aim to complete appointments in other departments by February 15,” Sarma stated.
Highlighting the urgency, he emphasized the government's commitment to concluding the entire recruitment process prior to the enforcement of election-related restrictions.
“Our goal is to finalize all appointments before the Model Code of Conduct takes effect,” he reiterated.
The Chief Minister also reassured Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers selected through a special recruitment initiative that their appointment letters would be distributed by February 10.
These announcements are expected to provide relief to numerous students and job seekers throughout Assam, many of whom have been awaiting clarity on these timelines.
