The discussions come as Sarma prepares for a cabinet expansion on June 5, following a series of meetings with central government officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meeting Between Assam's Chief Minister and Vice President

On Monday, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan at the Vice President's residence. This meeting marks Sarma's first interaction with Radhakrishnan following his swearing-in for a second consecutive term as Chief Minister on May 12. Radhakrishnan assumed office as Vice President in September 2025.




The Vice President's office shared on 'X', stating, 'Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan today at the Vice President's residence.' Previously, Sarma had invited Radhakrishnan to visit Assam during their last meeting in December 2025. In March of this year, Radhakrishnan undertook a three-day tour of Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura.







Additionally, Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu, also met with the Vice President on the same day. Sandhu, who previously served as India's ambassador to the United States, was appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi in March.




Meanwhile, Sarma announced on Sunday that the expansion of the Assam Cabinet is scheduled for June 5. Over the past three days, he has held several meetings with key officials from the central government, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. On Sunday, he discussed various developmental issues concerning Assam with Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, S. Jaishankar, and Sarbananda Sonowal. He also met with Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday.
