Success Stories from Assam

Guwahati, March 6: Three individuals from Assam have successfully passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025, achieving notable ranks: Abhigyan Khaund (Rank 187), Abhigyan Jyoti Bora (Rank 570), and Bhaswata Saikia (Rank 777).

Among these achievers, Abhigyan Jyoti Bora, a doctor hailing from Jorhat, emphasized that qualities like patience and diligence outweigh mere intelligence when it comes to succeeding in this challenging examination.

“In my view, patience and hard work are far more crucial than intelligence. The ability to focus for extended periods is vital,” Bora remarked.

Discussing his shift from medicine to public administration, Bora shared that his experiences as a rural physician inspired him to pursue civil services.

“While serving as a rural doctor, I encountered numerous systemic challenges. Treating one patient at a time was fulfilling, but I felt compelled to address broader issues through administrative roles,” he explained.

Bora noted that he cleared the exam on his second attempt.

“This was my second try. During my first attempt, while still working, I narrowly missed the prelims by just one mark. That experience made me realize my potential for this exam,” he added.

In total, nine candidates from Northeast India made it to the final list this year, with six of them from Manipur.

Anuj Agnihotri emerged as the top scorer in the civil services examination 2025, with results announced by the UPSC on Friday.

Rajeshwari Suve M and Akansh Dhull secured the second and third positions, respectively.

After a thorough selection process, which included written exams in August 2025 and personality assessments completed in February 2026, the Commission has recommended 958 candidates for roles in India’s prestigious administrative and diplomatic services.

The results, available in PDF format, list the names and roll numbers of candidates recommended for various civil service positions nationwide.
