Key Decisions Made by the Assam Cabinet


Guwahati, Dec 28: The Assam Cabinet convened yesterday and sanctioned a budget of Rs 115 crore aimed at the expansion and construction of roads across the districts of Karbi Anglong, Tinsukia, Dima Hasao, and West Karbi Anglong.


Additionally, the Cabinet endorsed amendments to the Assam Police Manual, allowing personnel from both armed and unarmed branches to participate in the examination for the role of assistant sub-inspector.


Two significant amendments to the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation of 1886 were also approved. These changes will facilitate digital hearings, electronic submissions, and a technology-driven approach to service delivery, which is expected to minimize backlog and improve transparency while ensuring legal validity for electronic processes.


This initiative aligns Assam with the National Incentive Framework, potentially allowing the state to access incentives totaling up to Rs 150 crore.


Moreover, the Cabinet resolved to allocate over 31 bighas of land for the Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam in Sonapur.


It was also decided to regularize the employment status of eight staff members at the Mumbai Assam Bhawan under the state government.


Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the distribution of land pattas to approximately 900 families in Kamrup (Metro) under the Basundhara scheme.


Lastly, the Cabinet granted approval for the temporary elevation of the Liaison Officer position at Assam Bhawan in New Delhi to that of Senior Liaison Officer.
