This declaration follows reports suggesting that Naqvi had indeed apologized to BCCI officials during the ACC AGM for taking the trophy during the presentation ceremony, a claim he has categorically denied.

BCCI representatives Ashish Shelar and Rajeev Shukla expressed significant concerns during the AGM, stressing that the trophy was never officially handed over to the Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav, who won against Pakistan in the final.

Although Naqvi indicated his willingness to return the trophy, no definitive resolution was reached at the AGM, leaving Indian cricket officials exasperated and the situation unresolved.
