Allegations Against BJP Government

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has leveled serious accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Rajasthan, claiming that they have misused administrative powers to manipulate voter lists. He described this act as disgraceful, asserting that it has exposed the BJP's true nature.

Gehlot stated, "Today marks a dark chapter for democracy in Rajasthan, revealing the BJP's true colors. The ruling party, intoxicated by power, has orchestrated a shameful conspiracy to tamper with voter lists using administrative resources."

Claims of Systematic Pressure on Election Officials

The senior Congress leader alleged that on the final day of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process for voter lists, booth-level officers (BLOs) were pressured by election registration officials (EROs) to remove names of voters aligned with Congress ideology as part of a premeditated scheme.

He further claimed that data was pre-filled in Form 7 and handed over to BLOs, which he views as a direct assault on the integrity of the electoral process. Gehlot mentioned that in instances where administrative officials and BLOs refused to participate in this democratic sabotage, they were threatened with transfers by members of the ruling party.

Call for Adherence to Constitutional Norms

In a statement, the former Chief Minister expressed that the BJP's audacity has insulted both the public and democracy. He noted that such attempts have even occurred in his constituency, Sardarapura. Gehlot has communicated with the state election commissioner, Naveen Mahajan, demanding immediate action regarding these allegations.

He urged officials involved in the electoral process to uphold constitutional integrity, warning those succumbing to BJP pressure that they will be held accountable under the law for any unlawful actions. Gehlot emphasized, "Adhere to constitutional norms, or be prepared to face the consequences." The SIR process is currently underway in the state.
