Mumbai, Apr 12: Renowned playback singer Asha Bhosle has been hospitalized following a cardiac arrest and complications related to her lungs. As of Sunday, her condition is reported to be critical, according to sources.
The 92-year-old artist was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai on Saturday evening.
Sources indicate that she is currently in the ICU and remains in a serious state.
As of now, Bhosle's family has not released any official updates regarding her health status.
On Saturday, her granddaughter Zanai shared an update on Instagram, stating, “My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, has been hospitalized due to severe exhaustion and a chest infection. We kindly ask for privacy during this time. Treatment is ongoing, and we hope for positive news soon.”
Asha Bhosle, the younger sibling of the late iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar, boasts an impressive career with over 12,500 songs recorded in various languages over eight decades. She has lent her voice to numerous leading actresses, including Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Zeenat Aman, Kajol, Urmila Matondkar, and South Indian stars like Padmini and Vyjayanthimala.
Some of her most famous tracks include "Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar", "In Ankhon Ki Masti", "Dil Cheez Kya Hai", "Piya Tu Ab To Aaja", "Duniya Mein Logon Ko", and "Zaara Se Jhoom Loon Main".
In 2023, she celebrated her 90th birthday with a special concert titled ‘ASHA@90: Live in concert’ held in Dubai.
