Asaduddin Owaisi Calls for Stronger Action Against Pakistan Post-Terror Attack

AIMIM Leader's Strong Stance on Terrorism
Hyderabad: Following the recent terror incident in Pahalgam, AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi urged the Indian government to take more assertive measures against Pakistan, advocating for a response that transcends mere cross-border strikes.
During a press conference, the MP from Hyderabad referenced a parliamentary resolution affirming that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is an essential part of India.
Owaisi stated, "If action is to be taken this time, it should be about 'ghar mein ghus ke baith jana' (enter their home and stay). Previously, it was about 'ghar mein ghus ke maarenge' (enter and kill), but now it should be about entering and remaining there." This comment came in response to media reports suggesting that Pakistani soldiers were vacating border posts.
He acknowledged, however, that he was not familiar with those reports.
Reflecting on previous terror attacks such as 26/11, Pulwama, Uri, Pathankot, and Reasi, Owaisi emphasized the necessity of eradicating terrorism.
"All opposition parties are calling on the government to put an end to terrorism," he remarked.
"You (BJP) are in power; it is your responsibility to stop this. "
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously stated that the armed forces possess 'complete operational freedom' to decide on the method, targets, and timing of India's response to the Pahalgam attack.
On April 22, terrorists opened fire in Baisaran, a well-known tourist destination in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of 26 individuals, primarily tourists from other states.
Owaisi also declared that AIMIM would participate in the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections, asserting that the residents of the Seemanchal region would 'teach a lesson' to those who 'stole' his party's MLAs.
He announced that the party has already named its candidate for the Bahadurganj constituency and plans to hold public meetings in Bihar on May 3 and 4.
"We will contest vigorously this time. You will see that our MLA candidates will perform better than before. The people of Seemanchal will teach a lesson to those who took our MLAs," he stated.
In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, AIMIM had a moderate performance, contesting 20 seats and winning five, all in Seemanchal, a region with a notable Muslim demographic.
However, in 2022, the party faced a significant setback when nearly all of its MLAs defected to the RJD, the primary opposition party in the state.
Regarding the Centre's decision to include caste enumeration in the upcoming census, Owaisi mentioned that AIMIM has been advocating for this since 2021.
He urged the BJP-led government to lift the 50 percent reservation cap and introduce a bill to that effect in the next monsoon session, asserting that opposition parties would support it.
Owaisi also questioned the BJP, the Prime Minister, and NDA allies about when the census would commence and whether the data would be released before the 2029 Parliamentary elections.
