Itanagar, Jan 8: On Wednesday, Arunachal Pradesh's Home Minister Mama Natung met with Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik at Lok Bhavan to engage in comprehensive discussions regarding security, law enforcement, and governance within the state.
During their conversation, they addressed significant topics such as border management, indigenous issues, and other critical matters essential for the stability and welfare of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor praised the Home Minister, along with Director General of Police Anand Mohan and the entire police force, for their diligent and peaceful management of the recent panchayat and local body elections.
He also acknowledged the Home Minister's strong leadership in the ongoing anti-drug campaign, emphasizing its importance in protecting the youth and preserving the social structure of the state.
Highlighting the necessity of adapting to new challenges, the Governor urged the Home Minister to incorporate modern technology to enhance the state's security framework, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. He stressed the significance of geo-spatial technology in governance and called for increased awareness regarding cyber security, labeling it as a pressing need.
“Our state must prioritize cyber security to ensure the safety and trust of every citizen in this digital era,” the Governor remarked.
He also advised immediate measures to prevent illegal constructions by unauthorized immigrants, who he warned are attempting to infiltrate the state.
While overseeing the rescue efforts related to the recent Chaglagam incident, the Governor expressed his concerns for public safety and recommended that the Home Minister instruct district police to monitor vehicle movements during nighttime as a precaution.
The Governor emphasized that proactive measures, timely oversight, and effective coordination at the district level could significantly mitigate risks and save lives.
In his briefing to the Governor, the Home Minister provided insights into the current law-and-order situation, detailing the challenges faced and the strategies being implemented to tackle them.
He shared information about preventive measures, enforcement actions, and ongoing initiatives aimed at maintaining peace, ensuring public safety, and bolstering public trust in the administration.
