Efforts to Resolve Boundary Dispute

Itanagar, July 29: The Arunachal Pradesh Government is dedicated to finding a peaceful solution to the ongoing boundary dispute with Assam, as stated by State Home Minister Mama Natung. He emphasized that both state governments are collaborating closely to address all outstanding issues through dialogue.
Natung referred to a recent border incident in the Tarasso area of Papum Pare district, noting that disputes in five districts have been resolved following the Namsai Declaration. Ongoing discussions aim to settle the remaining sectors, including Papum Pare. He mentioned that regional committees from both states are conducting regular meetings to facilitate a mutually agreeable resolution to the boundary conflict.
The minister urged residents living along the inter-state border to uphold peace, harmony, and brotherhood. He highlighted the importance of cooperation and restraint in fostering enduring peace and strengthening relationships between the neighboring states.
During the inauguration of the newly built Fire Station in Yupia, the headquarters of Papum Pare district, Natung addressed the audience. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Doimukh MLA Nabam Vivek, DGP Dr. SD Singh Jamwal, and other officials.
The fire station, constructed by the Urban Development Department at a cost of Rs 3 crore, is anticipated to enhance the operational readiness of the Fire and Emergency Services Department, improving emergency response capabilities in Yupia and surrounding areas.
In his address, the minister commended the commitment of Fire and Emergency Services personnel in safeguarding lives and property throughout the state. He encouraged citizens to stay alert regarding fire safety and engage in awareness initiatives organized by the department.
Natung also underscored the government's efforts to bolster emergency infrastructure, noting that 13 new fire stations have been established across district headquarters in the past three years. Additionally, 337 new positions have been created in the department, raising the firefighting workforce to 811 personnel.
Furthermore, he highlighted the achievements of Operation Dawn, the state's anti-drug initiative, which has resulted in the arrest of numerous drug traffickers and the dismantling of several trafficking networks over the past three to four years. He praised the Arunachal Pradesh Police for their dedication to combating drug abuse.
