Itanagar, July 11: The recent floods in Arunachal Pradesh have claimed seven lives, with the latest victim being a woman whose body was found in Papum Pare district, as reported by officials on Friday.


Authorities discovered the body of 43-year-old Taw Ajini in the Lichi area. She had been missing since June 24 when she was swept away by flash floods in the Keyi Panyor district.


Currently, one woman remains unaccounted for following the devastating monsoon floods.


In a separate incident, two laborers from Bihar lost their lives, and four others sustained injuries due to a landslide at a construction site in Lohit district on Wednesday.


Previously, a landslide in Sarti village, Anjaw district, resulted in one fatality on June 28, while three individuals died in the flash floods at Possa in Keyi Panyor district.


Recent reports indicate that fresh floods and landslides have caused significant damage across three districts, including West Kameng, Upper Subansiri, and Tirap, over the past 24 hours.


Villages affected include Khellong and Pangma in West Kameng; Riamukhi, Tachiring, Baring, Nungnu, Esso, Ginglo, Maling, Kamsar, Kamda, Dupit, Ayeng, Rigia, and Duchok in Upper Subansiri; and Khonsa town in Tirap.


Overall, approximately 94,201 individuals have been impacted across 333 villages in 237 circles across 26 districts due to the ongoing floods and landslides.


The agricultural sector has suffered extensive damage, with 334.2 hectares of crops affected, including 185.5 hectares of horticulture and 148.7 hectares of agricultural land, alongside 1,010 hectares of forest area.


Infrastructure has also been severely impacted, with damages reported to 131 roads, 19 bridges, 21 culverts, 191 water supply systems, 58 government buildings, 21 power lines, 224 electric poles, four hydel projects, seven retaining walls, seven flood protection walls, two hospitals, and three schools, in addition to drainage systems and other public assets.


Numerous homes have been damaged throughout the state, with four relief camps currently operational in Keyi Panyor, providing shelter to 252 individuals. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing in the affected areas.


The India Meteorological Department has forecasted continued rainfall across the state until Tuesday, issuing an 'orange' alert for East Kameng on Friday, indicating the possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning.


A 'yellow' alert has been issued for West Kameng, Tawang, Lower Subansiri, Papum Pare, East Siang, and Tirap, while other districts are not under any significant weather warnings.


On Saturday, a yellow alert will be in effect for Tawang, East Kameng, Pakke-Kessang, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, West Siang, Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit, Anjaw, and Longding, with no warnings for the remaining districts.
