The nearly 41-km transmission line marks another milestone in Arunachal Pradesh's journey towards building a "stronger, more reliable, and future-ready power infrastructure."
Itanagar, July 29: The Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein, announced a significant advancement in the state's power infrastructure with the successful launch of the 132 kV Miao–Namsai transmission line. This crucial project is anticipated to improve electricity reliability in the Changlang district and surrounding regions.
In a social media update, Mein emphasized that the commissioning of this nearly 41-km transmission line represents a pivotal achievement in the state's efforts to develop a "stronger, more reliable, and future-ready power infrastructure."
This initiative is part of the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission and Distribution System (CSST&DS).
Mein stated, "The nearly 41-km transmission line linking Namsai, Diyun, and Miao will greatly enhance power reliability in Changlang district and nearby areas, improve grid connectivity, lessen reliance on extensive radial networks, and cater to the region's increasing energy demands." He also oversees the Power and Hydropower portfolios.
Mein highlighted the achievements made under the ambitious power infrastructure initiative, noting that 91 out of 239 project components have already been completed, showcasing consistent progress towards establishing a modern and resilient electricity network.
He expressed gratitude to the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), the state power department, district administrations, executing agencies, and all stakeholders for reaching this milestone.
The CSST&DS is one of the largest power infrastructure projects initiated by the Centre for the Northeast, aimed at enhancing the transmission and distribution network in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
This scheme seeks to bolster grid connectivity, guarantee a reliable electricity supply, minimize transmission losses, and foster socio-economic growth in the remote and border regions of these two Himalayan states.
Executed by PGCIL in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh government, the project encompasses the construction of transmission lines, substations, and related distribution infrastructure to modernize the state's power network.
Officials have indicated that the scheme is expected to be completed by 2027, significantly enhancing power availability, operational reliability, and the integration of Arunachal Pradesh's expanding electricity system with the national grid.
