Arshdeep Singh Aims for IPL Glory with Punjab Kings Amid Expert Insights
Arshdeep Singh's Aspirations Post T20 World Cup Victory
Following India's triumph in the T20 World Cup 20-26, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is now setting his sights on clinching an IPL title with the Punjab Kings. However, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan emphasizes that Arshdeep must refine his skills, particularly in his new ball bowling.
Pathan's Insights on Bowling Technique
In a recent discussion on his YouTube channel, Pathan remarked, "Arshdeep, who emerged as the leading wicket-taker, has been consistently effective. A crucial area for him to improve is his performance with the new ball, as he hasn't showcased much inswing in recent matches."
Analysis of Arshdeep's Performance
The 27-year-old bowler from Punjab is recognized for his ability to take early wickets with precise length deliveries. He secured nine wickets during the recent T20 World Cup, where India successfully defended their title against New Zealand in the final held in Ahmedabad. Pathan pointed out that Arshdeep's statistics have seen a decline when bowling with the new ball, which he needs to address.
"His performance metrics have dipped since the Asia Cup, particularly in new-ball scenarios. He must focus on this aspect and monitor his economy rate as well," Pathan added.
Arshdeep's IPL Journey with Punjab Kings
Since making his IPL debut in 2019, Arshdeep Singh has been a reliable player for the Punjab Kings. He has taken 97 wickets across 82 IPL matches, although his economy rate stands at a concerning nine. Retained by the Kings for Rs 18 Crore ahead of the 2025 IPL auction, he played a crucial role in leading his team to the finals, where they were narrowly defeated by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Singh also holds the record as India's top wicket-taker in T20Is, with 127 wickets in 84 matches. His performance will be pivotal for Punjab as they aim for a trophy this season.
