Police Capture Suspect After Encounter

In a shocking incident from the Dayalpur area of North East Delhi, a 28-year-old man has been apprehended following an alleged rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl. The arrest took place on Tuesday after a police encounter, as confirmed by an official.

The suspect, a resident of Nehru Vihar in Dayalpur, was taken into custody near Hapur in Uttar Pradesh. During the arrest, he attempted to flee and attacked a police constable with a blade, prompting the officers to shoot him in the leg.

According to the official, while being transported to Delhi, the suspect requested to use the restroom near a lake park in the Welcome area. Once outside the police van, he suddenly brandished a blade and stabbed Constable Amit Mann twice in the chest before trying to escape.

The police team issued warnings and fired shots, but the suspect continued to flee until he was shot in the leg, allowing the officers to subdue him.

Authorities reported that the suspect was identified and arrested through CCTV footage and technical assistance. Both the injured constable and the suspect were taken to the hospital for treatment.

A new case has been registered against the suspect for attacking police personnel at the Welcome police station. The nine-year-old girl from Nehru Vihar was reportedly raped and murdered on Saturday.
