Arrest in Connection with Petrol Pump Bombing

Imphal, July 24 - Authorities have apprehended a militant in relation to a bomb explosion that occurred at a petrol station in Moirang, located in the Bishnupur district of Manipur. This information was disclosed by the police on Friday.

The arrested individual has been identified as 39-year-old Mayanglambam Tomba Singh, a member of the banned group Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL). He was taken into custody on Thursday at the Tera Urak checkpoint in Bishnupur district.

Singh, a resident of Bijang Khunou in Churachandpur district, was reportedly residing at the Fubala relief camp. Police recovered a 9mm pistol along with a magazine and 11 cartridges of various calibers from his possession.

He is believed to have been involved in the petrol pump explosion earlier this year, although no casualties were reported from that incident. In a separate operation, security forces arrested a suspected 'finance chief' of the banned United Kukis National Army (UKNA) in Molnom, Churachandpur district.

The police identified the arrested individual as S. Palal Kuki, who is allegedly linked to multiple cases of extortion and gunfire.
