The encounter took place in the Sikanderpur area of Ballia. During the incident, the suspect sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and has since been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dinesh Kumar Shukla, officers were patrolling the route leading from the village of Khareed towards the river when they signaled a young man on a motorcycle to stop. Feeling cornered, the suspect opened fire on the police team. In response, the officers returned fire, resulting in a gunshot wound to the suspect's right leg. He was promptly taken to the district hospital for medical care.

The arrested individual has been identified as Brijesh, a resident of Muhammadpur village in the Ghosi police jurisdiction of Mau district. Authorities recovered a country-made pistol and ammunition from his possession.

Officials reported that on the morning of December 3, Brijesh was transporting cattle in a truck with accomplices to Bihar for slaughter when police apprehended his associates. However, Brijesh managed to escape at that time, only to be captured during the police encounter last night.
