Incident Involving Israeli Flag Removal

Hyderabad: Authorities have apprehended an individual for allegedly taking down the Israeli national flag that was displayed by the Telangana government at the Secretariat, coinciding with the ongoing Miss World 2025 pageant, as reported by police on Saturday.

Law enforcement stated that the flag was removed on two separate occasions this week, prompting the filing of two distinct cases.

The initial incident was reported on May 12, following a complaint from a female police officer who discovered the flag missing after receiving a tip via social media. Subsequently, a replacement flag was installed.

The second report was made on May 16 by another police officer who noticed the flag was absent on May 14.

During the investigation, a man named Zakir, who works as a bike mechanic, was arrested in connection with the May 16 case, according to police.

It has been alleged that he shared a video of his actions on social media.

Currently, Zakir is the only individual identified in relation to this incident, and authorities are looking into the motives behind his actions and whether others were involved.

Efforts are ongoing to locate the individual responsible for the flag removal on May 12.

Both incidents have been classified as theft under BNS and 'mischief causing damage to public property' under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.

The Miss World pageant commenced on May 10 and is set to run until May 31.
