Army Foils Terrorist Infiltration Attempt in Jammu and Kashmir: Key Details Revealed

Thwarted Infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu: On Monday, the Army announced that it successfully intercepted an infiltration attempt by terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the neutralization of two infiltrators.

A spokesperson from the defense ministry reported that multiple terrorists were neutralized during the operation, and a guide assisting the infiltration was captured alive, along with a significant cache of arms and ammunition.

According to the official statement, troops detected suspicious movements in the Keri sector of Rajouri, a known infiltration route, just days ahead of the Amarnath yatra. Acting on reliable intelligence, the soldiers engaged a group of heavily armed Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terrorists.

The firefight resulted in confirmed casualties among the terrorist group, with at least two terrorists neutralized. Additionally, a local guide suspected of aiding the infiltrators was apprehended during the operation.

Subsequent search operations led to the recovery of weapons, explosives, and other military supplies, highlighting the scale of the planned terrorist activities.

The Army's swift response has been credited with averting a potential threat to regional peace and stability, especially in light of recent cross-border tensions. The captured guide is currently being interrogated to gather more information about the infiltration network and its connections to terror groups based in Pakistan.

In response to this incident, the Army has ramped up surveillance and allocated additional resources to prevent any further breaches along the LoC.

The spokesperson emphasized that security forces are on high alert across the Poonch and Rajouri districts to identify and neutralize any remaining threats.

Following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 civilian lives, the Army, police, and other security agencies have intensified operations against terrorists and their supporters. Continuous vigilance is maintained along the LoC and the International Border to ensure that no terrorists trained and sheltered by Pakistan infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir.
