Police Crack Down on Theft Gang in Odisha

In Odisha, law enforcement has successfully dismantled an armed gang responsible for a series of thefts, leading to the arrest of 14 individuals. Authorities reported that stolen goods valued at ₹40 lakh were recovered from the suspects.


According to Satya Jeet Nayak, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for the central range, among those apprehended, 11 are members of the theft gang, while the remaining three are buyers of the stolen items.


Yash Pratap Shrimali, the Superintendent of Police in Jajpur, noted that due to a rise in robbery and theft cases over the past eight months, multiple teams were formed to capture the suspects, who have been actively working on this case.


He added, 'We have seized 225 grams of gold, 2.39 kilograms of silver jewelry, ₹5.9 lakh in cash, two motorcycles among three vehicles, 15 mobile phones, and weapons.'


Furthermore, he mentioned, 'We have identified the remaining three members of the gang and they will be apprehended soon.' The police confirmed that the court has denied bail for the accused, who are now in judicial custody.
