World Cup Opening Match Details
The FIFA World Cup will officially commence on June 11, featuring a match between co-hosts Mexico and Canada in Mexico City.
Historical Encounters
Argentina's only previous match against Algeria took place in 2007, where Argentina triumphed with a score of 4-3 at Camp Nou. They have faced Austria twice: first, achieving a significant 5-1 victory in Vienna, and later, a 1-1 draw in 1990 prior to the World Cup in Italy. The upcoming World Cup will mark Argentina's first encounter with Jordan.
Lionel Scaloni's Thoughts on the Draw
"It was an incredible feeling to hold the cup again. Touching it was deeply moving, and I can't quite express how happy I am to have that opportunity. I felt calm yesterday, but today, as the draw unfolded, I felt the nerves," stated Argentina's head coach, Lionel Scaloni, as reported on the official website.
"There are no easy matches; we must approach each game with seriousness. We have always believed that. I respect Algeria's coach, Vladimir Petkovic, whom I worked with at Lazio; he is an excellent coach. Algeria boasts a strong team with talented players and a robust youth academy that nurtures talent for other nations. Austria had a commendable qualifying campaign, and while we know the least about Jordan, we cannot underestimate them; their presence in this tournament is well-deserved. We must give our best in every match," Scaloni emphasized.
"If we advance, it will be a challenging group, but our immediate focus is on qualifying. To the Argentine fans, I assure you that we will give our all, striving to replicate our last World Cup performance by never giving up on any play," he concluded.

The draw event was graced by sports legends, including Rio Ferdinand, who conducted the draw, alongside icons like Shaquille O'Neal, Tom Brady, Wayne Gretzky, and Aaron Judge, who assisted in the proceedings.
The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will progress to the round of 32.
