Apeksha David Leads at IGU Pune Ladies and Junior Girls Golf Championship
A Strong Start for Apeksha David
In an impressive display, Apeksha David, a 17-year-old golfer from Manipur, carded a two-under 70 to take the lead on the first day of the IGU Pune Ladies and Junior Girls Golf Championship held at the Oxford Golf Resort. This performance puts her two strokes ahead of her more experienced competitors.
Tied for second place are Karnataka's Priya Kumari and Yogya Bhalla, both finishing with even-par 72s. Following closely behind in fourth place are Ojaswini Saraswat, Janneya A Dasanniee, and Rehnoor Malik, who are just one shot off the pace.
Starting her round from the 10th tee, Apeksha made a remarkable 25-foot birdie putt on the 12th hole. However, she faced challenges with the greens, resulting in a three-putt bogey on the 13th and another dropped shot on the 18th, leaving her at one-over at the turn. Apeksha rebounded strongly on the back nine, hitting her 9-iron approach to four feet for a birdie on the fourth hole, followed by a seven-foot birdie on the fifth. She capped her round with a 10-foot birdie putt on the final hole, finishing with a score of 70.
In the 'C' category for ages 11-12, Aaliyah Kalra and Ridhima Kapoor are tied for the lead, both shooting 79.
