Aparna Yadav Advocates for Homecoming of Women Affected by Forced Conversions
Call for Homecoming of Women Affected by Conversion
Aparna Yadav, the Vice Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women's Commission, emphasized on Friday the need for the 'homecoming' of women who have suffered due to forced conversions. During her one-day visit to Gonda, she addressed the media after a public hearing focused on women's issues, stating, “Women who are unhappy with forced conversions should have the full right to return to their original faith.”
She asserted that in a free India, the wishes and beliefs of every individual must be respected. Yadav also remarked that demolishing the illegal properties of those involved in forced conversions is a justified action, sending a clear message that such activities will not be tolerated in society.
Responding to comments from opposition parties regarding the Kanwar Yatra, she expressed her disapproval, stating that the pilgrimage is a part of Sanatan tradition and should remain free from political interference. In reaction to recent statements made by Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, she insisted that religion should not be dragged into politics.
Yadav emphasized that everyone has the freedom to practice their religion, and unnecessary political discourse surrounding this issue yields no benefits. Addressing the ongoing controversy in Mumbai, she highlighted that Hindi represents the soul and pride of the nation.
She further stated that Hindi serves as a unifying force for the entire country, and those who insult the language possess a very low and despicable mindset. Yadav concluded by asserting that spreading discrimination against Hindi is detrimental to the unity of the nation.
