Arrest in Connection with Manipur Bomb Blast

Security forces have apprehended an additional suspect linked to the bomb explosion at a petrol station in Bishnupur district, Manipur, which occurred last week. This information was confirmed by police on Friday.


A senior official reported that the 41-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Thursday from the Lanfel Sana Keithel area in Imphal West district, where a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was also seized.


Previously, a 35-year-old member of the banned group Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) was arrested in the Komnao Makha Leikai area of Kakching district. The official stated, 'The individual arrested on January 15 is an associate of the main suspect involved in the bombing incident.'


On the evening of January 8, a bomb was thrown at the Elidas petrol pump located in the Leikai area of Moirang police station. Following this explosion, all petrol stations in the valley regions of Manipur were closed for three days.
