Indian boxer Ankush Panghal has successfully moved to the round of 16 in the men's 80kg division at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. He achieved this by defeating Bahrain's Hamsa Vogel with a unanimous score of 5-0 on Wednesday.

Having previously clinched gold at the Commonwealth Games 2026, Ankush showcased a commanding performance against Vogel in the round of 32. Although he started the match cautiously, he quickly found his rhythm, landing effective punches that earned him the first round from all five judges.

Vogel attempted to increase his aggression in the second round, but Ankush countered with a series of strong punches, maintaining control throughout the bout. Once again, all judges awarded the round to Ankush with a score of 5-0.

In the final round, Ankush continued to dominate, leaving Vogel unable to mount a significant challenge. The judges unanimously declared Ankush the winner, securing his place in the round of 16 as he progresses in the Asian Games.

On the same day, India celebrated winning three bronze medals at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026, with notable performances in shooting and soft tennis, while athletes in rowing, canoe sprint, kabaddi, and table tennis also excelled.
