Anini's Prestigious Award


Itanagar, Dec 19: The scenic town of Anini, located in the Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh, has been awarded the title of “Best Emerging Adventure Destination” during the 17th annual convention of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) in Srinagar.


This esteemed accolade was presented by Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, acknowledging Anini’s rising status in the realm of adventure tourism in India and its dedication to sustainable tourism practices.


The award reflects the collaborative efforts of the Department of Tourism in Arunachal Pradesh, local tourism operators, and the residents of Anini, who have collectively fostered a responsible and nature-respecting model of adventure tourism. This includes activities such as trekking, river exploration, wildlife watching, and high-altitude adventures.


Officials noted that this recognition marks a pivotal moment in the tourism development of Dibang Valley, celebrated for its ecological richness and pristine landscapes. It also enhances Arunachal Pradesh's reputation as a premier destination for adventure and nature tourism in the Northeast.


Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein expressed their happiness regarding Anini's national recognition.


CM Khandu described this achievement as a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing Anini’s stunning natural beauty and its potential for adventure tourism. He congratulated the Department of Tourism, local stakeholders, and the community for their hard work in attaining this honor.


Deputy CM Chowna Mein highlighted that the award showcases Anini’s breathtaking scenery, rich indigenous culture, and vast opportunities for adventure tourism.


District Tourism Officer Lamwang Aran, who accepted the award on behalf of the district, expressed gratitude to ATOAI and acknowledged the continuous support from the State government, district administration, and local communities.
