Anil Kapoor's Nostalgic Moment on 'Wheel of Fortune'

Mumbai, March 2: Actor Anil Kapoor recently appeared on the gaming reality show ‘Wheel of Fortune’, where he shared a nostalgic story about his initial earnings.

During his conversation with host Akshay Kumar, Kapoor revealed that he began his career at the state broadcaster Doordarshan in 1976, which marked the start of his successful journey in the entertainment industry.

He recounted, “I have a story to tell about my first earnings in 1976. It was from Doordarshan. There was a studio in Worli where I performed on television, and I was paid INR 250 for it. That was my first recognition, seeing myself on screen, and my parents and friends watched me on the small screen.”

Kapoor expressed his desire to find the clip of that performance, stating, “I am trying hard to locate that clip to see how I performed. After that, I got involved in theater while studying at St. Xavier’s College. During my first theater performance, Shashi Kapoor was the Chief Guest, and I received the Best Actor trophy from him, which motivated me to pursue acting. Shashi Kapoor played a significant role in my career.”

In another segment of the show, a puzzle prompted the audience to recall the famous song ‘Dhak Dhak Karne Laga’. Kapoor shared fond memories and behind-the-scenes stories related to the song.

He remarked, “This song belongs solely to Madhuri ji. I was just in a supporting role.” Akshay Kumar quickly interjected, reminding everyone that the song was a collaboration between both actors and one of the most iconic tracks of its era.

With a smile, Kapoor reminisced about the filming, saying, “Saroj ji choreographed this song. We shot it at Raj Kapoor's studio on the last day of filming. We filmed it at night because Madhuri and I were already busy with two shifts during the day. The freshness you see in this song is because we were shooting two films and then this song at night.”

‘Wheel of Fortune’ airs on Sony Entertainment Television and is also available on SonyLIV.
