Amaravati: The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, expressed his gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu for approving the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which officially designates Amaravati as the state capital.
The Act has been published in The Gazette of India following the President's approval.
Naidu also acknowledged the Union Government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their unwavering support and guidance to the Members of Parliament in favor of the 'Amaravati Bill'.
In a post on X, Naidu stated, "On behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Hon'ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji for her kind assent to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Act, 2026, realizing our long-held dream of a capital."
He further expressed appreciation for PM Modi's leadership and the citizens who rallied behind Andhra Pradesh.
"This marks a significant victory for the people of Andhra Pradesh, particularly the farmers of Amaravati," Naidu added.
In another post on X, he reiterated, "The capital of Andhra Pradesh is Amaravati."
Following the President's endorsement, IT Minister Nara Lokesh remarked that the dream of establishing a capital has now become a reality.
"Today is a landmark day for every citizen of Andhra Pradesh," Lokesh stated on X.
He joined millions of Telugu individuals in thanking PM Modi for his vision and support for the state's future.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan noted that April 6 will be remembered as the day Amaravati was officially recognized as the capital.
"On this momentous occasion, with the Bill's passage in Parliament and the Gazette Notification from the Government of India, along with the President's assent, the long-awaited dream of the people of Andhra Pradesh has finally come true," Kalyan shared on X.
He expressed his gratitude to Murmu, Modi, and Naidu for making this historic achievement possible.
