Amaravati, Aug 18: Authorities in Andhra Pradesh have initiated an extensive search for Sadikh Khan, the coach of a shooting academy, who is allegedly linked to the tragic suicide of a government worker along with his family.
Police teams from Rajamahendravaram and Kakinada are actively pursuing leads to locate Khan, who is the founder of the shooting academy based in Kakinada.
K. Nooka Raju, an Assistant Engineer in the Panchayat Raj Department, along with his wife, daughter, and 10-year-old grandson Karthikya Reddy, tragically jumped into the Godavari River from a bridge in Rajamahendravaram on Sunday night.
The young boy was rescued by local fishermen after being found unconscious on an island in the river.
While the body of 61-year-old Nooka Raju was recovered on Monday evening, search efforts for his wife Meena, 58, and daughter Sowjanya, 38, are ongoing.
Search operations are being conducted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) with the assistance of skilled divers.
A suicide note, believed to be written by Raju, was discovered in the family car, alleging that Khan had been harassing his daughter following the recent death of her husband, Jagdish Reddy.
In the note addressed to the District Collector and Superintendent of Police, Raju claimed that Khan had been pursuing his daughter under the pretense of offering support, and had threatened both Raju and his grandson when they rejected his advances. He also accused Khan of stealing their valuables.
Raju expressed that the family felt compelled to take their own lives due to the unbearable pressure on his daughter.
Following the revelations in the suicide note and statements from Raju’s grandson, police have filed charges against Khan for 'Abetment of suicide' under Section 108 of the BNS.
The case took a significant turn when Soujanya’s father-in-law, Bhaskar Reddy, filed a complaint alleging Khan's involvement in his son Jagdish Reddy’s death.
Bhaskar Reddy claimed that his son died after being injected with a toxic substance on July 2, and he suspects Khan and another individual were involved in the alleged murder.
He stated that new information emerged after discussing the situation with his grandson Karthikya, who had been training at Khan’s academy.
Following Jagdish Reddy’s death, Khan reportedly began visiting their home and attempted to get closer to Soujanya.
In response to Bhaskar Reddy’s complaint, a case has been registered at the Sarpavaram police station in Kakinada.
During the investigation into the suicide, police discovered several letters in Soujanya’s vehicle.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan contacted Kakinada SP G. Bindu Madhav and East Godavari SP D. Narasimha Kishore, urging them to expedite the investigation.
