Andhra Pradesh Issues Red Alert Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases

COVID-19 Cases Increase in Andhra Pradesh

On Friday, a new COVID-19 case was reported in Kadapa, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Andhra Pradesh to two. In response to this development, the state has declared a red alert to brace for a possible surge in infections and has released a general advisory urging caution among residents.

The first case involved a woman in Visakhapatnam, and the second case in Kadapa is still pending confirmation. A senior official from the Directorate of Public Health and Family Welfare reassured the public that the woman is on the mend and there is no immediate cause for alarm.

In light of the rising concerns regarding COVID-19, the Andhra Pradesh government has advised citizens to refrain from attending large gatherings, including prayer meetings and social events. Additionally, individuals over the age of 60 and pregnant women are encouraged to remain indoors.

The Director of Public Health and Family Welfare has urged the public to maintain good hygiene practices, such as regular handwashing, covering mouths and noses when coughing or sneezing, and avoiding face-touching. Furthermore, residents are advised to wear masks in high-risk areas, especially in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces.

A review meeting was conducted on Monday with experts from various health organizations, including the National Centre for Disease Control and the Indian Council of Medical Research, led by the Director General of Health Services.
