Chief Minister Emphasizes Support for Backward Classes
N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has declared the upliftment of Backward Classes (BC) as a top priority for the state government. In an official statement released on Friday, he reiterated the government's ongoing commitment to the welfare and development of these communities, taking every possible measure to integrate them into the mainstream of society. A delegation led by Kesana Shankar Rao, the state president of the BC Welfare Association, along with national president J. Srinivasa Goud, met with the Chief Minister to present a memorandum outlining their demands.
Government's Commitment to Backward Classes
In the statement issued on Friday, Naidu emphasized that the state government is dedicated to the welfare and advancement of Backward Classes. The delegation urged the Chief Minister to raise the issue of providing reservations based on population ratios with the central government. They also called for the establishment of a law to protect the interests of backward communities.
Key Demands from the Delegation
Additionally, the delegation requested the implementation of 34% reservation in local bodies, the creation of a separate ministry for Other Backward Classes (OBC) at the central level, the initiation of an OBC sub-scheme with dedicated budget allocations, and the filling of pending vacancies in government departments. They expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government would ensure justice and equal opportunities for backward class communities across all sectors.
